Éclat is more than just an event; it’s a celebration of art in all its forms. Pre-Primary Graduation Day: Blooms of Avalon

Our little ones marked a significant milestone, blossoming from tiny buds into bright, joyful blooms. The pre-primary graduation ceremony was a heart warming affair, filled with excitement and pride. Parents were welcomed with a prayer and a beautiful welcome song, choreographed by the children themselves. Handmade gifts from the kids added an individualized touch, exhibiting their love and gratitude. The highlight was a class presentation, offering parents a glimpse into their children’s school life. Each child then charmed the audience with their graduation address before receiving their certificates. The day ended with a touching farewell performance, cherished photos, and refreshments, creating lasting memories

At Avalon, we believe in nurturing our teachers as lifelong learners and inspirers. Guided by our Director, Dr. Simi Kamlesh Sharma, bi-annual training sessions are held each March and June to refine teaching techniques and deepen educator-student connections. The March 2024 workshop emphasized respect, peace, and harmony, blending introspection with practical skill-building. Teachers engaged in simulated Parent-Teacher Conferences, empathetic conflict resolution, and crafting student-centered lesson plans. The highlight was the ‘Information to Inspiration’ session, focusing on addressing teen issues with empathy.

Educators continued their professional development in May and June 2024, focusing on love as a transformative force in education, persuasive communication, and practical classroom management. A notable exercise was the “Silent Hour,” where teachers explored nonverbal teaching methods equipping them with new skills and renewed commitment to inspire and guide the next generation.

Swasth Avalon 3.0: A Celebration of Health and Wellness

In light of the challenges posed by the global pandemic, our school launched Swasth Avalon 3.0, a week-long initiative dedicated to health and wellness. It began with yoga sessions for Grades 6-12, a master class on diabetes prevention, and vibrant debates on diet. The second day featured energetic aerobics, dance sessions, and discussions on substance abuse, while students explored food adulteration through hands-on experiments. The third day focused on love, sexuality, folk fitness, and heart health. Day four included a community cleanliness campaign, a journaling workshop, and Bolly Fit exercises, along with a visit to a recovery facility. On day five, we visited a village in Karauli, offering health advice and fostering unity. The sixth day was marked by an inspiring Walkathon through the streets, uniting parents, students, and educators in promoting good health. The week concluded with a Grade 7 clean up of the mangroves, where500 kg of rubbish was cleared, and an artistic mural project, highlighting our commitment to community spirit. Swasth Avalon 3.0 is a testament to our dedication to well-being, celebrating our collective effort for a healthier, more vibrant world.

Festival of the Moon: Celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr

Our Pre-Primary section joyfully celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr embodying unity and love. Dressed in traditional attire, our young Avalonites began the day with the custom of washing faces, hands, and feet in front of a beautifully constructed mosque model. Teachers enriched the celebration by introducing key terms like Vazu, Musallah, Zakat, and Quran, deepening students’ understanding of Eid’s religious and cultural significance. The children exchanged “Eid Mubarak” greetings and delighted in the festive joy of Kurma. Each child received a moon painting, symbolizing love and the spirit of Eid. The celebration highlighted Avalon’s commitment to embracing and honoring all religions, reinforcing the universal values that unite our community.

Embracing Cultural Exchange: A Memorable Visit by Welsh Teachers

Our school had the pleasure of welcoming Ms. Laura and Ms. Kate from Sant Elfod as part of an enriching teachers exchange program. They visited various classrooms, where they introduced students to Welsh culture through interactive lessons, storytelling, and a touch of Harry Potter magic. Their engaging approach fostered new connections and left a lasting impression on both students and staff.

The visit also featured a special assembly that celebrated Indian traditions, including a moving roleplay on religious empathy and a presentation on upcoming festivals. The guests enjoyed traditional Indian delicacies and received handcrafted scarves made by our students. This cultural exchange highlighted the importance of global ties and deepened our understanding of one another’s traditions.

Satsang: A Moment of Serenity

In a serene Satsang session, middle and high school students gathered in the school auditorium for peaceful contemplation. Gifted musicians, along with Ranjini ma’am’s mantra chanting, set a tranquil atmosphere, with students joining in harmonious singing and clapping. A period of silent meditation allowed for deep inner reflection. Dr. Simi Kamlesh Sharma, our school director, emphasized the benefits of Satsang and meditation for mental clarity, emotional balance, and community spirit. The session concluded with a renewed sense of peace, reflecting our commitment to holistic education and the integration of intellectual, spiritual, and emotional growth.

EUREKA: Igniting Scientific Curiosity

Our annual house-based science quiz, EUREKA, was a thrilling display of scientific curiosity and innovation. The four houses—Daffodils, Iris, Tulips, and Orchids—competed fiercely, with participants and audience alike fully immersed in the excitement. Whispers of correct answers and non-stop clapping filled the hall, creating a lively and joyous atmosphere.

EUREKA aimed to deepen scientific understanding, foster teamwork, and encourage healthy competition. The event not only put on display the brilliance of the participants but also highlighted the limitless possibilities of science, leaving everyone inspired and eager for future explorations.

SEEK: A Showcase of Scientific Ingenuity

Our students from grades 3 to 12 unveiled their scientific aptitude at SEEK, our two-day science fair. The first day featured a range of innovative projects, from renewable energy models to a terracotta water cooler powered by a hidden fan. On the second day, these projects were evaluated by reputable professionals.

The event was filled with enthusiasm as students demonstrated their deep understanding and passion for science. While participation was key, winners were recognized for their outstanding contributions. SEEK highlighted our dedication to fostering curiosity and innovation, paving the way for a brighter future.

International Yoga Day: Embracing Peace and Well-Being

We celebrated International Yoga Day, a global event dedicated to health, harmony, and mindfulness. The school embraced this day with a profound sense of peace, as students and faculty united in a journey of self-discovery through yoga. From pre-primary students practicing basic poses to high school students mastering advanced asanas, the event underscored our commitment to holistic growth. The rhythmic breath and fluid movements of participants reflected a collective embrace of the present moment, fostering inner serenity and well-being.

Parenting Workshop: Fostering Connection and Understanding

Our director, Dr. Simi Kamlesh Sharma, led a transformative parenting workshop, guiding parents in the art of heartfelt communication. Through insightful discussions and a compelling video presentation, parents delved into understanding their children’s inner worlds. Dr. Sharma emphasized active listening, empathy, and encouraging independence, offering strategies to create a nurturing and harmonious parent-child relationship. The workshop highlighted the journey of mutual growth and understanding, essential to exceptional parenting.

World Music Day: A Celebration of Harmony and Talent

We celebrated World Music Day with an exhilarating inter-house song competition featuring Daffodils, Orchids, Iris, and Tulips. Each house demonstrated their musical talents in captivating performances, highlighting music’s power to unite and inspire.

The festivities continued with a vibrant FLEXI event, transforming the school into a musical wonderland across three floors. Eleven engaging stations, including OPEN MIC, KARAOKE KORNER, and EMOGI ENIGMA, offered students a chance to explore activities like Beat it, LOST IN TRANSLATION, and MUSICAL BINGO. The event demonstrated music’s ability to connect hearts and foster community spirit, reflecting Avalon Heights’ joyful and innovative spirit

Community Helpers Day: A Heartfelt Salute

Our Jr Kg students commemorated Community Helpers Day with amazing enthusiasm and creativity in a two-day event. It was a touching ode to the vital role of community helpers in society.

The first day saw classrooms come alive with students dressed as doctors, firefighters, and other essential workers. Through role-playing, the children expressed their admiration and respect for these professions and on the second day, interactive stations allowed students to experience various occupations, from baking and teaching to makeup artistry and firefighting. Activities like making paper hands and extinguishing cardboard fires offered a hands-on understanding of these important jobs. A puppet show and card-making session added to the celebration, allowing the children to express their gratitude, and appreciating the contributions of community helpers.

SUPW

Every month our school's SUPW program designs a diverse range of activities for students in grades 6–12, that spark enthusiasm and learning. Students immerse themselves in skill-building tasks across various domains, from crafting and cookery to debate and drama and so on. The program encourages creativity, critical thinking, and teamwork, while also exploring interests such as financial literacy, graphic design, photography, and Indian mythology. With enthusiastic participation and a blend of learning and enjoyment, these sessions provide a dynamic platform for students to discover their passions and develop new skills and enjoy a dynamic educational experience.

Albert Barrow: A Tribute to Creative Writing

Our school graciously hosted the Albert Barrow Memorial All India Interschool Creative Writing Competition 2024. Focusing on Grade 9 and 10 students, the event welcomed 29 talented participants from various schools, each a creative beacon.

The air was filled with the power of the written word, as students crafted stories, prose, poems, dialogues, and dramas with remarkable skill. The morning began with a soulful prayer by our school choir, setting an inspirational tone. A narrative on the life and legacy of Albert Barrow followed, igniting the imaginations of the young writers, and guiding their pens. The event was a celebration of youthful creativity and a testament to the boundless possibilities of the written word.

English Recitation Competition: Voices of Verses

The English Recitation Competition provided students a vibrant stage to display their linguistic brilliance. Featuring commendable performances from Grades 1-12, the event highlighted the articulate expressions of younger students and the polished renditions of high schoolers.

Each class transformed words into mesmerizing presentations displaying outstanding language skills, flawless pronunciation, and unwavering confidence. Many students enhanced their recitations with creative props, making the event a spectacular celebration of oratory prowess. The judges faced a delightful challenge, as the exceptional talent on display made selecting winners incredibly difficult.

Weekly Career Talks: Inspiring Future Paths

Navigating career choices can feel like a labyrinth, but Avalon Heights’ Weekly Career Talks provide our high schoolers with the guidance they need. Esteemed experts from diverse fields visit our school, offering invaluable insights to help students make informed career decisions.

This year, we were honored to host Ms. Anuradha Likhite, who illuminated the fields of brand management and corporate relations, and Mr. Jay Shetty, who introduced us to the world of e-gaming. Mr. Shiv Kumar shared the art of marketing, while Mr. Saket Singhal explored opportunities in actuarial science. Mr. Abhishek Gulati provided guidance on crafting compelling university applications, and Ms. Shilpa Singh clarified the complexities of choosing the right academic streams. Lastly, Ms. Heena Kapoor enriched our students’ understanding of a legal career. As the year progresses, we look forward to more insightful sessions that will continue to inspire and guide our students toward their ideal careers.
